Dental scaling is a non-surgical periodontal treatment that involves the removal of dental plaque, calculus (tartar), and bacterial toxins from the tooth surfaces, particularly below the gumline. It is commonly recommended for our patients with gingivitis or early-stage periodontitis to restore gum health and prevent further progression of disease.
The procedure is performed using our ultrasonic scaler instruments that gently break up and remove deposits from the tooth surfaces. Local anesthesia may be applied for deeper scaling, especially in cases of significant gum inflammation. Depending on the severity, treatment may be done in one or more sessions.
